Terry: The English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams collected a version of this song from a Sussex singer. He used the tune as a setting for Bunyan’s poem “He who would valiant be” that is best known as the hymn “To be a Pilgrim”. It is the hymn variant that I have used, with words from various sources.
